2007 Theme “Strive to be a Hometown Idol” For Vocalists Only!

The Fall River Chamber of Commerce will host auditions for the "Fall River Catches a Star" Talent Show at 5:00pm. on Tuesday July 10th at Cafe Arpeggio..

This year, the talent show is open only to vocalists and the theme will be “Strive To Be A Hometown Idol”. Co-chairs Michelle Pelletier and Jennifer Preston Sousa decided to continue with vocalist this year and focused their theme on Hometown Idols. We will be having past American idol contestants perform and debut some of their new hits.

Although pre-registration is not required, only vocalists with one accompanist or with recorded accompaniment are eligible to audition and first place winners from previous years are not eligible to compete two years in a row.

Based on the auditions that day, a panel of judges will select 30 qualifying contestants for the Talent Show at Fall River Celebrates America, which runs from August 9-12, 2007. Up to ten (10) contestants will be chosen to compete in the over age 21 + category, 14-20 and the 13 and under category.

On Saturday afternoon, August 11, five semi-finalists from each category will be selected that day.

On Sunday afternoon, August 12, the five semi-finalists will compete resulting in cash prizes given to one winner and a runner up from each age group.

Fall River Celebrates America celebrates its 21th Anniversary this year with the overall theme “Honoring Our Veterans.” Along with celebrating our veterans, we hope that you will join us in celebrating our Hometown Idols.
